Two horses with Calder history put their names in the history books on Saturday, Nov. 4 when winning Breeders' Cup championship races at Santa Anita Park.
Sherry Parbhoo's Trinniberg, who is based at Calder and trained by Shivananda Parbhoo, won the $1.5 million Breeders' Cup Sprint with jockey Willie Martinez aboard. Trinniberg won his career debut at Calder on July 8, 2011 and finished second in the Carry Back Stakes (G3) at the 2012 Summit of Speed, losing by a neck to Fort Loudon.
Earlier in the day, Priscilla and Carlo Vaccarezza's Little Mike, winner of this summer's Arlington Million, won the $3 million Breeders' Cup Turf under jockey Ramon Dominguez for trainer Dale Romans. Little Mike wone of three starts at Calder, an allowance race on Dec. 10, 2011.
