Tags: Calder News | January 26, 2012

Beginning Friday, February 3, Studz Poker Club at Calder Casino & Race Course will begin 24-hour operations on Fridays and Saturdays. The switch in hours also coincides with the Miami Gardens Poker Classic, a 6-event poker tournament series featuring over $200,000 in guarantees February 3-12, 2012.

Studz will continue with its current operating hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, but will no longer close at 5:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday mornings. When the room opens at 9:00 a.m. on Friday mornings, it will not close until 3:00 a.m. Monday morning.

"We got a lot of positive feedback from our players when we tried it in 2011," said Chris Trabue, Director of Poker for Studz Poker Club. "We tested 24-hour operations on several holiday weekends in 2011, and after looking at our table counts, we decided it would be the right thing to do moving forward."

The first weekend of 24-hour operations will also mark the kickoff of the Miami Gardens Poker Classic. The 6-event poker tournament series features over $200,000 in guarantees, and will be the first tournament series to be hosted at Studz. "South Florida is a unique market when it comes to poker, so with the feedback from our players, we built a custom format that makes for a great tournament," said Trabue.
