MGPC Event 1 Results

Studz Poker Club at Calder Casino & Race Course completed the first event of the Miami Gardens Poker Classic, a 6-event poker tournament series featuring over $200,000 in guarantees February 3-12, 2012.

Event 1 was a $225 buy-in multi-day event which concluded on Sunday, February 5. The event drew 248 players for a total prize pool of just over $50,000. The top 25 places were paid, and the top 10 results are as follows:

1. Brent Philbin from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida - $11,919
2. Fedner Oralien from Lauderdale Lakes, Florida - $10,519
3. Jesus Abreu from Hialeah Florida - $5,366
4. Dolphy Garricks from Miramar, Florida - $3,413
5. Kelvin Mcclendon from North Miami ,Florida - $2,439
6. Victor Milian from Pembroke Pines Florida - $2,097
7. Garfield Riley from Miami Gardens, Florida - $1,610
8. Paul Riley from Pompano Beach, Florida - $1,171
9. Arturo Garcia from Miami, Florida - $1,112
10. Francois Gagne from Hillsboro Beach, Florida - $1,073

Places three through six were eliminated in a matter of about 30 minutes, which left Brent Philbin (pictured on the right) and Fedner Oralien (on the left) to agree on an uneven chop based off of their chip stacks. The stacks were close, but Philbin edged out Oralien after eliminating most of the final table.

The main event of the series will be a $440 buy-in, $100,000 guarantee which will run Friday, February 10 through the 12. Full details on the remaining events of the Miami Gardens Poker Classic are available at
