Charity Funding Application

CALDER CASINO AND RACE COURSE CHARITY FUNDING GUIDELINES

MISSION STATEMENT

Calder Casino and Race Course is committed to supporting charitable organizations that
assist our industry, our community and its children, and education. Calder is dedicated to
charities that are located in our City of Miami Gardens.

TYPES OF FUNDING FOCUS

Industry related – a priority of Calder is to protect and further the interests of the
gaming and horse racing industry, its participants and patrons.
Children – a concentration of our funding is for the safety and welfare of children in
our local area.
Education – Education touches people of all ages. Calder is committed to supporting
educational programs.

AMOUNTS OF FUNDS AWARDED
Calder will consider donating charity funds of $500 up to $50,000.

FUNDING RESTRICTIONS
Calder receives many viable funding requests. Therefore, funds are typically not awarded to:

Individual teams or team players
Programs where the primary purpose is the promotion of religion
Organizations that request multi-year commitments
Charities located out of our geographic area
Organizations with high administration or fundraising costs

FUNDING
When deciding on the organizations that will receive funds, Calder Charity Allocation Committee considers the following:

Does the charity fall under our funding focus?
Will the funds go to programming? Please describe on application.
Will the funds be used locally?
Would the organization like to create a partnership with Calder? Examples of this
include:
- Bringing a group out to Calder for a function/event
- Including Calder on the charity’s website
- Doing a cross promotion with Calder
- Including Calder in a PSA and advertising opportunitities
